Elmar Kempfen is a seasoned executive with many years of senior leadership experience in the industrial sector. From 2016 to 2025, he served as CEO of the Swiss company HYDRO Exploitation SA. Previously, he held the position of Global Head of Operational Excellence at the international corporation Lonza AG.
He holds a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification, as well as degrees from ETH Zurich and an Executive MBA.

Target audience

Contents Introduction to process management: analyzing internal processes, identifying waste, and steps toward building lean processes. Lean manufacturing tools: organizing workstations using the 5S system, standardizing work, visual management, and pull systems (Kanban / Supermarket). Practical simulations: making paper airplanes to visually compare batch production and one-piece flow. Quality and performance management: error-proofing (Poka-Yoke), developing key performance indicators (KPIs), and using dashboards. Introduction to project management: fundamentals of project management, risk management, and change management. Project workshop: analysis of the success factors of good project management and reinforcing exercises.
